The European Investment Bank has approved a €700 million investment program proposed by E-Distribuzione to modernize and strengthen Italy's electricity distribution infrastructure. With approximately €500 million in proposed EIB financing, the initiative will focus on improving grid reliability, increasing resilience to extreme weather and supporting the integration of renewable energy. Implementation is planned for 2026 and 2027, responding to growing electricity demand and the expansion of electrification across the country. The program could create substantial opportunities for manufacturers and suppliers of transformers, cables, switchgear, monitoring systems and other electrical infrastructure, supporting Italy's broader energy transition.
