Sage Geosystems Selects Nevada Site for Commercial-Scale Geothermal Project

Houston-based Sage Geosystems has selected Winnemucca, Nevada, as the location for its next major commercial-scale geothermal development, Project Vector. The two-well enhanced geothermal system will supply continuous geothermal heat to Ormat Technologies’ Blue Mountain geothermal power plant, supporting the production of reliable, 24/7 electricity. Drilling of the first well is expected to begin later in 2026, with initial electricity generation planned for 2027 and full-scale production targeted for 2028. Project Vector will build on the results of Sage’s existing geothermal facility in South Texas and use the company’s digital twin technology to support the project’s design and development. The project is also part of Sage’s expanding commercial pipeline, which includes a 150 MW geothermal power agreement with Meta Platforms. The company is increasingly targeting energy-intensive customers such as data centers, where demand for dependable, round-the-clock power continues to grow. Founded in 2020, Sage Geosystems has raised approximately $159 million across three funding rounds, including a $97 million Series B round co-led by Ormat earlier in 2026.
