French TotalEnergies files for authorisation of €4.5 billion Offshore Wind Project

TotalEnergies has submitted an application for approval of a large offshore wind project off the coast of Normandy, France. The project has a planned capacity of 1.5 gigawatts and represents an investment of around €4.5 billion. If approved, construction is expected to take about three years and could create up to 2,500 jobs during the building phase. The company said the development is part of its broader renewable energy expansion strategy, aiming to increase its offshore wind portfolio and support Europe’s transition toward cleaner energy sources. Affect to USA Manufacturers: -It increases global demand for wind turbines and components, creating more competition for U.S. suppliers. -U.S. manufacturers of steel, cables, and electrical equipment may gain export opportunities if they can supply European projects. -Strong European offshore wind investment could push U.S. firms to speed up innovation to stay competitive. -Higher global demand for renewable infrastructure may tighten supply chains and raise material prices. -It could indirectly pressure U.S. energy manufacturers to scale up capacity to match international growth in renewables.
