Europe’s First Offshore Wind-Powered Gas Project Achieves Top Methane Rating

A Dutch German natural Gas project in the North Sea, N05-A, has become the first gas development in the region to earn a MiQ Grade A certification for low methane emissions. Operated by Netherlands-based ONE-Dyas with partners EBN and Tenaz Energy, the project uses electricity from Germany’s Riffgat offshore wind farm to power gas production, marking a major step in Europe’s transition to cleaner energy. The certification, verified by Intertek, confirms that N05-A meets the highest standards for methane management and operational transparency. This milestone sets a benchmark for European gas producers aiming to reduce emissions, comply with stricter regulations, and demonstrate sustainability in upstream operations. Major energy companies worldwide, including BP, ExxonMobil, Repsol, and EQT, are increasingly adopting similar standards.
