Cohen & Co. Opens Houston Office to Expand Energy Investment Banking

Cohen & Co. Capital Markets has opened a new office in Houston to serve as the hub for its energy advisory business, appointing investment banking veteran Rahul Jasuja as managing director and head of energy and energy transition investment banking. Jasuja previously held senior roles at Houston-based Mast Capital Advisors and Wells Fargo Securities, bringing extensive experience in energy-focused investment banking. Cohen’s capital markets arm closed $44 billion worth of deals last year, reflecting its growing presence in the financial sector. The Houston office will concentrate on four key energy verticals: nuclear and geothermal energy systems, energy supply chains, energy-transition fuels and technologies, and traditional energy. Jasuja emphasized the importance of disciplined capital allocation to meet rising energy demand, spanning both sustainable and conventional solutions, noting that Houston remains the central hub where capital, expertise, and execution converge to make the energy transition investable. Cohen & Co.’s head of capital markets, Jerry Serowik, added that the firm’s investment in Houston reflects its belief that infrastructure powering AI, defense, and the energy transition—from nuclear to rare-earth technologies—represents a major cycle of value creation for investors
