ENGIE Expands Wind and Solar Projects in Texas

Houston-based ENGIE North America is partnering with Los Angeles-based Ares Infrastructure Opportunities to add 730 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy to the ERCOT grid in Texas, including one wind and two solar projects. ENGIE, which already operates or is building over 11 GW of renewable energy projects in North America and 52.7 GW worldwide, aims to reach 95 GW by 2030. CEO Dave Carroll emphasized that the expansion reflects ENGIE and Ares’ commitment to meeting growing U.S. power demand despite challenging conditions. In addition, ENGIE has launched three community solar farms in Illinois, including the 2.5 MW Harmony project in Lena and the Knox 2A and 2B projects in Galesburg. The 600 MW Swenson Ranch Solar project near Abilene, Texas, expected online in 2027, will supply power to Meta. ENGIE also signed a nine-year renewable supply agreement with AstraZeneca via its 114 MW Tyson Nick Solar Project in Lamar County, Texas.
