Knauf and Ritleng found plaster recycling joint venture in France

Knauf, the building materials group, has partnered with its French collaborators Ritleng Revalorizations and HL Développement to establish a gypsum recycling joint venture in France. This collaboration aims to secure long-term access to high-quality recycled gypsum and to scale up circular solutions for the construction sector on an industrial scale. The joint venture is investing in a recycling plant that is currently under construction in Auneuil, located in the northern French département of Oise. The plant is scheduled to begin operations by the end of the first half of 2026. Ritleng Revalorizations, which specializes in recycling plasterboard and other gypsum waste, stated that this facility will be the largest of its kind in Europe. With the addition of this new plant, which will be the second operated by Ritleng, the group will have the capacity to process nearly one third of France’s total plaster waste stream. This initiative represents a significant step toward increasing the recycling of gypsum and promoting a more circular economy within the French construction industry, ensuring that a substantial portion of plaster waste can be efficiently recovered and reused at an industrial scale.
