New AI accelerator opens in Germany

Thales has opened the CortAIx AI accelerator in Germany to respond to the growing demand for trusted, resilient, and secure AI solutions in defense and security. The German CortAIx hub becomes part of Thales’ global AI network and focuses on cybersecurity and military applications such as autonomous cyber-defense, agent-based penetration testing, command & control systems, and sensor-centric intelligence. The CortAIx approach is strongly customer-driven, covering the full innovation chain from basic research to use cases, minimum viable products, and market-ready solutions. This model has already been successfully applied in other NATO countries. In Germany, CortAIx benefits from Thales’ extensive AI expertise, including hundreds of AI specialists, a leading European AI patent portfolio for critical systems, and more than 100 AI-enabled products already in operation. Research and development in Germany will focus on building resilient data and knowledge foundations, developing autonomous AI systems for highly dynamic and security-critical environments, and securing AI systems against manipulation and hybrid cyber-physical threats throughout their entire lifecycle. CortAIx in Germany is intended to become a central hub that brings together technology, talent, and research to support reliable decision-making in critical scenarios Impact on German manufacturers – key criteria: • Stronger competition in defense, security, and high-reliability AI markets • Expanded partnership and supplier opportunities within Thales’ ecosystem • Rising requirements for certified, trustworthy, and resilient AI systems • Technology transfer from defense AI into civilian manufacturing and Industry 4.0 • Increased demand for AI talent, intensifying competition for skilled workers • Acceleration of AI adoption in regulated and safety-critical industries
