⚡ Chevron, Engine No. 1, and GE Vernova Partner to Power AI Data Centers with Natural Gas

Chevron U.S.A. Inc., Engine No. 1, and GE Vernova have announced a groundbreaking partnership to build natural gas power plants, dubbed "power foundries," to meet the rising energy demands of AI-focused data centers across the United States.
The plants, expected to deliver up to four gigawatts of power—enough to supply 3 to 3.5 million homes—will be operational by 2027. The facilities are designed for future integration with lower-carbon solutions like carbon capture and renewable energy.
“The data centers needed to scale AI require massive amounts of 24/7 power," said Chevron CEO Mike Wirth, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in supporting the growth of AI technologies.
The foundries will use seven GE Vernova 7HA natural gas turbines and are planned for locations in the Southeast, Midwest, and West. In addition to powering data centers, the partnership aims to sell surplus energy to the national grid, ensuring scalable and cost-effective energy solutions without straining existing infrastructure.
This collaboration highlights the growing intersection of energy and AI, positioning the U.S. as a leader in both fields.
