Hazardous waste company with Houston presence to make $3B acquisition

Veolia, a Boston-based environmental services company with significant operations in Texas, is set to acquire hazardous-waste company Clean Earth from Enviri in a $3 billion deal. The acquisition includes 82 facilities, 19 of which are EPA-permitted, expanding Veolia’s operations into 10 new states and making it the second-largest hazardous-waste operator in the U.S. Veolia’s Port Arthur facility, which specializes in servicing generators with large-volume waste treatment needs, will complement Clean Earth’s operations. The transaction strengthens Veolia’s presence in key sectors generating hazardous waste, including clean energy, semiconductor manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and retail. CEO Estelle Brachlianoff stated that the deal “doubles our size in this critical, fast-growing sector” and reinforces Veolia’s ability to provide comprehensive environmental services across the U.S. This acquisition is Veolia’s sixth and largest North American deal of 2025 and is expected to close by mid-2026, further enhancing the company’s international footprint and its capacity to meet rising demand for safe hazardous waste management.
