Amazon launches AI DevOps Agent, a new tool that detects outages and fixes issues in minutes

Amazon AWS has launched DevOps Agent, an AI-powered tool that detects outages, identifies root causes, and recommends fixes within minutes. It integrates with monitoring systems like Datadog and Dynatrace and automatically analyzes logs, metrics, and recent code deployments from GitHub or GitLab. The tool uses multiple coordinated AI agents that run parallel hypotheses so engineers receive a pre-built incident report as soon as they join. Early testing by Commonwealth Bank of Australia showed it finding root causes in under 15 minutes, much faster than human engineers. The DevOps Agent competes with Microsoft’s and Google’s SRE automation tools, as well as startups like Resolve and Traversal. AWS describes it as an “always-on autonomous on-call engineer” that manages incident triage, suggests remediation steps, and coordinates communication through Slack. This launch further expands AWS’s push into AI-driven developer productivity tools, alongside earlier products like Kiro, as cloud providers race to automate more of the software operations workflow.
