New Agreement between U.S and French Enviromental sector companies

Veolia, the French global leader in environmental services, has announced a major strategic acquisition: the purchase of U.S.-based hazardous waste management company Clean Earth from Enviri for $3.04 billion (€2.6 billion) in cash. This deal represents Veolia’s largest acquisition since its takeover of Suez, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing transformation plan. Clean Earth is a major U.S. player in hazardous waste treatment, disposal, and recycling—an industry described as one of the fastest-growing segments of the environmental services market. By integrating Clean Earth, Veolia will double the scale of its hazardous waste operations in the United States, making it the second-largest player in the U.S. hazardous waste sector. Veolia CEO Estelle Brachlianoff highlighted that acquiring Clean Earth will strengthen Veolia’s financial and strategic positioning. The move is intended to: • expand Veolia’s footprint in a high-growth U.S. market, • enhance operational efficiency, • create a more balanced global portfolio, • and “unlock the full value potential” of Veolia’s hazardous waste division through synergies and increased economies of scale. The acquisition underscores Veolia’s long-term ambition to be a global leader in resource management, environmental protection, and circular economy solutions. It also reinforces the company’s shift toward higher-margin, technology-driven recycling and waste treatment activities. The purchase is still subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
