A new renewable natural gas source in Landfill.

A new renewable natural gas (RNG) facility has opened at the Scott Area Landfill in Iowa. Built and operated by Waga Energy in partnership with the Waste Commission of Scott County, Linwood Mining and Minerals, and the American Biogas Council, the plant will produce over 205,000 MMBtu (60 GWh) of RNG annually avoiding 15,800 tons of CO₂ emissions. Using Waga Energy’s WAGABOX technology, the site upgrades landfill gas into pipeline-quality RNG that feeds into the MidAmerican Energy network. The project is operated under a 20-year agreement with revenue-sharing between partners. Leaders at the inauguration highlighted the project as a strong public-private collaboration that improves methane capture, boosts local renewable energy production, and supports climate-change mitigation
