AI Music startup has a huge increase of income

AI music startup Suno has raised $250 million, boosting its valuation to $2.45 billion, signaling a major leap for AI-generated music. The Cambridge-based company — known for creating full songs from simple text prompts — plans to use the funding to enhance pro-level music tools, improve the experience for casual creators, and add more social and sharing features. Backed by investors including Menlo Ventures, Nvidia’s NVentures, Lightspeed, Hallwood Media, and Matrix, Suno is scaling as AI-made music becomes more mainstream. The platform now supports longer tracks, audio uploads, and higher-quality models, attracting everyone from hobbyists to professional songwriters. Suno is also navigating growing copyright battles with major labels like Universal, Sony, and Warner, who argue for stronger protections around training data and artist likeness. Meanwhile, the industry is shifting toward licensed AI training models, highlighted by Universal’s recent settlement with Udio. Founded in 2022, Suno says millions have already used its tools, and it plans to push into longer-form music and more advanced vocal synthesis. With its new funding, the company is positioned at the center of the fast-moving debate over how AI-generated music will shape the future of song creation.
