🌍 ExxonMobil and Calpine Partner on Major CO₂ Storage Deal in Texas

ExxonMobil has signed an agreement to transport and store up to 2 million metric tons of CO₂ annually from Calpine’s Baytown Energy Center, supporting the development of low-carbon electricity. The deal is part of Calpine’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, expected to deliver 500 MW of low-carbon power—enough for over 500,000 homes—while also supplying industrial steam and creating jobs. This marks Exxon’s sixth CCS customer, raising its total contracted CO₂ volume to 16 million tons per year, reinforcing the Gulf Coast’s role as a leading hub for industrial decarbonization.
