UK Greenlights Rampion Windfarm Expansion to Power 1M Homes ⚡

The UK government has officially greenlit the expansion of the Rampion offshore windfarm, giving the go-ahead to a major renewable energy project that will see 90 new turbines installed off the Sussex coast. Known as Rampion 2, the project is expected to generate 1.2 gigawatts of clean electricity—enough to power around 1 million British homes. Beyond its environmental impact, the expansion will also deliver significant economic benefits, creating up to 4,000 construction jobs and boosting the local economy. The approval, which had been delayed earlier this year to allow for further review and public consultation, comes as part of the government’s ambitious target to quadruple the UK's offshore wind capacity by 2030. Energy Secretary Ed Miliband called the decision a step forward in the country’s push to secure energy independence, lower bills, and move away from fossil fuels. The developer, RWE, thanked the Sussex community for its four years of input in shaping the project to balance both environmental goals and local interests.
