New Research Hub at Texas Rice University Boosts Membrane Tech for Clean Energy ⚡

Rice University has launched the Rice Center for Membrane Excellence (RiCeME) to develop cutting-edge membrane materials and separation technologies crucial for the clean energy transition. Led by Professor Menachem Elimelech, the center will focus on applications like fuel cells, carbon capture, and water purification. Part of the university’s WaTER Institute, RiCeME also aims to support water reuse, resource recovery, and host educational workshops. The center plans to collaborate with Houston’s energy, chemical, and oil & gas industries, combining research from multiple engineering and science departments. Unveiled at the Rice Global Paris Center Symposium, the initiative reflects Rice’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and real-world impact.
