🌞 Shell and KGAL Sign 60MW Solar PPA in Germany

Shell Energy Europe has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with German investment firm KGAL to buy all electricity from the 60MW Calvörde Ost solar park near Magdeburg. The plant, part of the Calvörde Cluster, has been supplying green electricity since autumn 2024, generating nearly 60,000 MWh per year—enough to power 29,000 households while reducing 39,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. KGAL’s ESPF 5 fund led the project from acquisition to grid connection, with additional 40MW (Calvörde West) and 20MW (Grauingen) solar parks set to be connected later in 2025. This agreement strengthens Shell’s renewable energy portfolio while ensuring long-term returns for KGAL’s investors.
