TenneT to Invest $216 Billion to Strengthen Power Grids in Netherlands and Germany ⚡

Dutch state-owned grid operator TenneT announced plans to invest €200 billion ($216 billion) by 2034 to strengthen power grids in the Netherlands and Germany. The investment aims to reduce congestion and expand capacity for renewable energy integration, with over €10 billion spent in 2024 alone. The company and the Dutch government are still searching for long-term financing solutions for TenneT's German operations, after a planned sale to Berlin collapsed due to budget constraints. TenneT has already secured €44 billion in loan facilities to finance projects through 2026 and will continue raising debt and equity to maintain its investment momentum. Photo: esgnews
