TotalEnergies Commissions Major Biomethane Plant in France 🇫🇷

TotalEnergies has inaugurated BioNorrois, a new biomethane plant in Fontaine-le-Dun, Seine-Maritime, with an annual capacity of 153 GWh. This makes it the company’s second-largest biomethane facility in France, supplying enough renewable gas for 30,000 households. The project is developed in partnership with Cristal Union, which will provide beet residues from its sugar production facility and hold a 10% stake in BioNorrois. The plant will also generate digestate, a natural fertilizer for local farmers. With this new facility, TotalEnergies boosts its total biomethane capacity in France to over 800 GWh and continues its expansion into the global biomethane market, including projects in the United States. The company aims to reach 10 TWh of biomethane production by 2030, supporting its low-carbon energy strategy
