⚡ UK Opens Bidding for $5 Billion Offshore Electricity Links

Britain’s energy regulator, Ofgem, has invited investors to bid for £4 billion ($5.06 billion) worth of electricity transmission links connecting the UK to North Sea wind power. The bidding covers assets under the Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) regime, including links for RWE’s Sofia wind farm, which will power 1.2 million homes in North Yorkshire. Upcoming tenders will feature transmission links for major projects like Dogger Bank C, Inch Cape, and East Anglia 3, with Dogger Bank set to become the world’s largest offshore wind farm (3.6 GW), developed by SSE, Equinor, and Vargronn. Ofgem aims to attract investors, enhance energy security, and accelerate clean power development in the UK.
