ScottishPower and Shoreham Port Join Forces for Green Hydrogen Project 🌱
ScottishPower, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, has partnered with Shoreham Port to explore the development of a green hydrogen production facility. The two entities have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to conduct a 12-month feasibility study aimed at decarbonizing the port’s operations. Shoreham Port’s Chief Executive, Tom Willis, emphasized the crucial role hydrogen will play in achieving net-zero emissions, aligning with the port’s upcoming Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plan. Mark Bradley, Hydrogen Director at ScottishPower, highlighted the shared commitment between both organizations in advancing green energy solutions. ScottishPower’s parent company, Iberdrola, has extensive experience in green hydrogen projects, with ongoing initiatives in Spain and across eight countries. The company has already secured UK government support for multiple hydrogen projects, including a 10 MW facility at Whitelee Windfarm and a 15 MW facility in Cromarty. Additionally, ScottishPower is conducting a feasibility study for a 100 MW production plant at the Port of Felixstowe. This partnership reinforces the UK’s commitment to green hydrogen as a key component of its clean energy transition.
