🚀 GE Aerospace Leverages Supercomputers for Jet Engine Innovation

GE Aerospace is harnessing the power of exascale supercomputers to revolutionize jet engine development. Since 2022, the company has secured over 3 million computing hours through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), using two of the world’s fastest supercomputers—Frontier and Aurora. In collaboration with Boeing and NASA, GE Aerospace is utilizing these powerful machines to refine its Open Fan engine architecture, optimizing aerodynamics for greater efficiency, reduced noise, and lower fuel consumption. This research is a key component of CFM International’s RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) program, which aims to develop hybrid-electric systems and engines compatible with 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), targeting a 20% improvement in fuel efficiency. With high-performance computing driving innovation, GE Aerospace continues to push the boundaries of sustainable aviation technology.
