⚡ RWE Powers Up Germany’s Grid with 220 MW Battery Storage Facility

RWE has successfully completed a 220 MW / 235 MWh battery storage facility at its Hamm and Neurath sites in North Rhine-Westphalia. The project, consisting of 690 battery cabinets with eight modules each, will play a crucial role in supporting Germany’s energy transition by stabilizing the power grid and participating in balancing energy markets. The facility features newly installed high-voltage transformers connecting to the 110 kV network. Looking ahead, RWE is planning further expansions, particularly at the Hamm site, where the former Westfalen coal power plant provides significant potential for additional battery storage.
