BMW Invests $10M in Battery Recycling Facility 🔋

BMW is expanding its commitment to sustainability with a new $10.4 million (€10 million) investment in a battery recycling facility in Lower Bavaria. Using "direct recycling," the company will recover valuable materials like lithium and cobalt from used battery cells, avoiding energy-intensive chemical or thermal processes. This initiative builds on BMW’s Competence Centres in Munich and Parsdorf, aiming to create a closed-loop system for battery production. The facility, set to open in late 2025, will recycle mid-double-digit tons of battery materials annually, reducing waste and improving efficiency. With rival brands like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche also investing in battery innovation, the race for sustainable EV solutions is accelerating. 🚗⚡
