Enfinity Global Announces Two Texas BESS Projects Totaling 850MWh ⚡

Independent power producer (IPP) Enfinity Global has unveiled plans for two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Texas, with a combined capacity of 425MW/850MWh. The projects, set to be located near Houston and Dallas, are expected to begin construction in Q2 and Q4 of 2025. Enfinity, which manages a 32.1GW renewable energy and storage portfolio globally, sees these stand-alone BESS projects as a key step in strengthening ERCOT’s grid and capitalizing on Texas’ energy market dynamics. The ERCOT market is experiencing increased volatility, driven by growing energy demands from AI, data centers, and cryptocurrency mining, coupled with the retirement of coal plants. Texas continues to be a hotspot for BESS investment, accounting for 25% of the total 3,431MW/9,188MWh US grid-scale battery deployments in Q3 2024, according to Wood Mackenzie. Enfinity joins a growing list of companies betting on battery storage in Texas, following SES AI Corporation’s recent MoU with AISPEX to deploy 100MWh of BESS for a crypto mining site.
