🔍 OpenAI Unveils ‘Deep Research’ AI Agent for Advanced Web Research
OpenAI has introduced Deep Research, an advanced AI-powered research agent within ChatGPT, designed to help professionals in fields like finance, science, policy, and engineering. This new tool autonomously conducts comprehensive web research, analyzes data, and generates fully cited reports, completing tasks that would normally take hours or days. To use Deep Research, Pro users can simply input their query and attach relevant files or spreadsheets for additional context. The AI then reviews hundreds of sources over a period of 5 to 30 minutes, with a sidebar tracking the research process before delivering a detailed report. While the tool shows significant promise, OpenAI has acknowledged that Deep Research may occasionally make incorrect inferences or struggle with differentiating authoritative sources from misinformation. Currently, Pro users have access to 100 queries per month, with plans for wider availability to Plus and Team users in the future. OpenAI is also working on a more cost-efficient version to increase query limits for paid users. Deep Research's performance on the Humanity’s Last Exam benchmark demonstrates its expert-level knowledge capabilities, further highlighting its potential in transforming the landscape of autonomous knowledge discovery.
