🚗 VW Group May Build Audi, Porsche Models in U.S. to Avoid Tariffs

Volkswagen Group is considering producing Audi and Porsche vehicles in the United States to counter potential high tariffs on car imports from Europe and Mexico, according to a report from a German business newspaper. The move would help the German automaker reduce costs and maintain competitive pricing in the U.S. market. Currently, Audi and Porsche models are primarily built in Europe, with some production in Mexico. To execute this strategy, VW could expand its Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant—where it already produces the ID.4 electric SUV—or invest in a new facility. This approach aligns with other automakers, such as BMW, which produces a significant portion of its SUVs in the U.S. to manage trade barriers. While no official decision has been made, VW is reportedly evaluating its options to ensure a strong presence in the American market.
