🌞 Shell Energy and RCEA Power Up California with Sandrini Solar Project

EDP Renewables North America has launched the Sandrini I & II Solar Energy Park in Kern County, California, with a total capacity of 300 MW. The project includes Sandrini I (200 MW), backed by a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Shell Energy North America, and Sandrini II (100 MW), supported by a 15-year PPA with Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA). Sandrini I is already powering over 76,000 homes and has contributed $510,000 in tax revenue since 2023, benefiting local schools and infrastructure. Sandrini II will provide over one-third of RCEA’s energy needs, helping Humboldt County reach 100% renewable electricity by 2030. The project also contributes to California’s broader clean energy push, adding to the 8,000 MW of new renewable projects from Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs). With 200+ construction jobs, permanent operations roles, and $15 million in landowner royalties, the initiative is boosting local economies. EDP Renewables continues expanding in the U.S. through PPAs with major corporations like Meta, Walmart, Google, McDonald's, and Lufthansa Technik.
