🌍 UK Announces $37M Funding for Clean Maritime Innovation

The UK has announced $37 million in funding through the sixth round of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC6) to support green maritime innovations. Projects funded so far include electric chargepoint networks, hydrogen vessel retrofits, and carbon capture systems. Hull has emerged as a key innovation hub, receiving £3.7 million for GT Wings’ AirWing propulsion system, which cuts vessel emissions by up to 30%. The funding, part of the £236 million UK SHORE program, aims to decarbonize maritime transport, create jobs, and advance zero-emission shipping. Applications for CMDC6 open January 24, with trials of the first AirWing set for March 2025.
