🌬️ UK Plans 12 GW More Offshore Wind for 2030 Clean Power System

The UK government has unveiled its Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, which outlines a nearly fully clean electricity system by the end of the decade. Offshore wind, currently contributing 17% of the country's electricity, is a central focus, with plans to procure an additional 12 GW in upcoming Contract for Difference (CfD) allocation rounds. By 2030, clean energy sources, including offshore wind and nuclear, are expected to provide 95% of the UK's electricity, with gas reduced to a backup role at just 5% of total generation. The action plan also highlights the importance of maintaining 35 GW of gas reserve capacity for security of supply during the transition.
