⚡ Saudi Arabia's 2025 Focus on Energy and Sustainability

Saudi Arabia has outlined a comprehensive energy roadmap for 2025, with a strong focus on renewable energy and resource maximisation. According to the Finance Ministry's budget for fiscal year 2025, the Kingdom aims to increase its energy capacity while advancing workforce development and emissions management. The Kingdom is targeting the replacement of 100% of its 2024 crude oil and gas production and plans to add 7.5 trillion standard cubic feet (scf) of crude gas reserves. A key milestone will be the completion of the Jafurah gas plant, which is expected to start production in 2025, aiming for 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day by 2030. In renewable energy, Saudi Arabia has allocated 1,862 square kilometres for solar power and 260 square kilometres for wind farms to boost its renewable energy contribution. The launch of the Integrated Energy Strategy will also enhance the country’s energy leadership, focusing on local content development, energy security, and emission reductions. The Kingdom is investing 87 billion Saudi riyals ($23 billion) in the Economic Resources Sector, which includes energy-related projects. Workforce development is also a priority, with new training programs for roles in renewable and nuclear energy industries, ensuring national talent readiness. Other significant initiatives include the Liquid Fuel Displacement Programme, which will convert water desalination plants to reverse osmosis (RO) technology and expand the gas pipeline networks, improving energy supply security and efficiency.
