Houston-based engineering giant McDermott has landed a key contract for the Ascension Clean Energy (ACE) Project in Louisiana, a groundbreaking clean ammonia facility led by Clean Hydrogen Works (CHW). Backed by strategic partners ExxonMobil, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and Hafnia, the project aims to produce 2.4 million metric tons of clean ammonia annually, scaling up to 7.2 million tons in the future. The project, located in Ascension Parish, will feature advanced carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technology and leverage McDermott’s expertise in mega-module construction. With regulatory approvals expected by early 2025, production is set to begin by 2029.
