Octopus Energy Commits £2 Billion to UK Renewable Energy Projects by 2030

Octopus Energy has announced a significant £2 billion investment in renewable energy projects across the UK, aiming for completion by 2030. This investment is part of the country’s strategy to enhance solar and wind energy capacity. The company plans to develop four new solar farms in partnership with BayWa r.e., located in Bristol, Essex, East Riding of Yorkshire, and Wiltshire, with a combined capacity of 222 MW, enough to power 80,000 homes. Additionally, a 30 MW battery will be installed at one site to store surplus energy, while a new 12 MW battery in Cheshire will support nearly 10,000 homes daily. These solar farms are expected to offset emissions equivalent to removing 35,000 fossil fuel cars from the road annually. Octopus Energy is also expanding its wind energy portfolio and plans to apply for new wind turbine installations, which will provide local customers with discounted energy bills through its innovative "Fan Club" scheme.
