🌬️ RWE Powers Ahead with Two New Onshore Wind Projects in Germany

RWE has successfully secured tenders for two onshore wind projects in Germany, further advancing the country’s energy transition. Together, the projects will add a total capacity of 40 megawatts, providing enough clean electricity to power around 28,500 households annually.

The first project, located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, will introduce four turbines with a capacity of 22.8 MW. The second will expand the existing Bergheim Wiedenfelder Höhe wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) with three turbines delivering 17.1 MW. The NRW site is notable for its placement on recultivated mining land in the Rhenish lignite region, reflecting RWE’s commitment to sustainable land reuse.

Construction on both projects is scheduled to begin by mid-2025, with commissioning expected in the summer of 2026. Beyond clean energy generation, RWE aims to support local communities by voluntarily contributing €0.2 cents per kilowatt hour produced, translating to additional income of up to €190,000 per year for municipalities near the project sites.
