🔋 EnBW to Build 100-Megawatt-Hour Battery Storage Facility in 2025 for Grid Stabilization in Germany ⚡

Starting in early 2025, EnBW will begin construction of a 100-megawatt-hour battery storage facility at its Marbach power plant site. This lithium iron phosphate storage system, scheduled to be operational by the end of 2025, will have the capacity to supply power to a small town of approximately 12,500 households for one day. The storage facility will connect to the Transnet BW transmission grid and provide rapid flexibility to balance weather-related fluctuations in solar and wind power generation.

Arnim Wauschkuhn, Head of Battery System Solutions at EnBW, emphasized the favorable timing for this project, noting that “battery modules have become more affordable, and demand for flexibility in energy markets is increasing.” In addition to this large-scale storage project, EnBW plans to implement more storage solutions and is equipping new solar power plants with battery storage to further enhance energy stability.
