π Lyten to Invest Over $1 Billion in Nevada Lithium-Sulfur Battery Gigafactory π

Silicon Valley startup Lyten has announced plans to build the worldβs first gigafactory for lithium-sulfur batteries in Reno, Nevada. The company will invest over $1 billion in the facility, which is expected to create 200 jobs initially, increasing to over 1,000 in the region.
With the ability to produce up to 10 gigawatt-hours of batteries annually, the facility aims to start production in 2027. Lyten's lithium-sulfur technology promises batteries that are up to 40% lighter than traditional lithium-ion cells, catering to markets like drones, micromobility, space, and defense.
This initiative aligns with efforts to reduce reliance on China for battery materials and develop domestic supply chains in North America. ππ
