Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable power generator, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Brockwell Energy and Encyclis for the Earls Gate Energy Centre (EGEC), marking a milestone as the first PPA for an Energy from Waste (EfW) project with onsite demand.

The EGEC features a total installed capacity of 23 MW, with an expected export capacity of around 12.5 MW due to onsite steam and power needs. This project was financed with a solid offtake contract to ensure a clear market route for Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).

The PPA includes flexible terms for fixing and unfixing power prices, allowing adjustments based on onsite demand changes. Unhedged volumes will settle according to N2EX Day Ahead Hourly reference prices.
