Port of Kiel, Germany Aims to Standardize Shore Power for All Ships by 2025 with Expansion Plans! ⚓️🔌

The Port of Kiel has achieved a remarkable milestone by registering its 100th shore power call of 2024, with the LNG-powered cruise ship AIDAnova being the latest to connect. This unprecedented achievement in a German port demonstrates the commitment to sustainability, with nearly 70% of ocean-going cruise ships using the port's shore power facilities this season.

AIDA Cruises leads the way with 41 connections since 2021. The Port of Kiel has invested significantly in shore power technology, aiming to make it standard for all capable ships by 2025. The port plans to expand its facilities to accommodate three cruise ships simultaneously, further solidifying its position as a pioneer in shore power.
