US Portland Waste-to-Energy Plant Set to Launch Following Planning Approval ♻️⚡

Powerfuel Portland has successfully secured planning permission for a new energy from waste (wte) facility in Castletown, located on the Isle of Portland off England’s southern coast. The decision comes after an appeal process, allowing the plant to proceed despite initial setbacks.
The proposed facility will have a processing capacity of up to 202,000 tonnes of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) annually. Originally estimated to cost £100 million when first announced in 2019, the project's financial projections have now risen to £150 million (approximately €180 million) for private sector capital expenditure. This development marks a significant step forward in the UK’s efforts to enhance waste management and promote sustainable energy solutions.
