Loadhog Opens Newly Built Sustainable Packaging Factory in France

Loadhog, the British employee-owned manufacturer of reusable and sustainable packaging solutions, has opened a new 5,000 m² factory in Obernai, France. Located on Rue de l’Innovation, the facility will help the company cut transportation costs and CO₂ emissions while improving service for European customers. The company’s UK base in Sheffield will continue to serve as Loadhog’s central hub, supporting operations in France as the new plant ramps up. The Obernai factory will initially produce items from the intralogistics range, including Automation containers and trays designed for advanced warehouse systems such as robotics, conveyors and transfer systems. With features like RFID compatibility, stackability, low noise, and lightweight durability, these solutions help optimize efficiency in high-volume automated environments. Sustainability is a core principle of the new facility — it runs on renewable energy and participates in Operation Clean Sweep, a global initiative to eliminate plastic resin loss and protect the environment. Shaun Khan, Loadhog’s Group Managing Director, said the expansion reflects Loadhog’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and its employee-owners. The new French factory will also create new local jobs and contribute to the region’s industrial development.
