Inventec Launches $85 Million Manufacturing Facility in Katy, Texas
Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Inventec has announced a major milestone in its U.S. expansion with an $85 million investment to establish manufacturing operations in Katy, Texas. The company is converting a 52,000-square-foot section of a 530,000-square-foot warehouse in the Park 10 Ninety Nine industrial complex into a state-of-the-art electronic component assembly plant. The first phase of the project, valued at $55 million, is scheduled for completion by October 31, 2025. The Greater Houston Partnership reports that Inventec’s broader Houston-area investment totals $251 million, with projections of 2,353 new jobs and an overall economic impact of $3.2 billion. The Katy site alone will add more than 500 jobs, reinforcing the company’s role as a key driver of local economic growth. Situated near Katy Asian Town, the new facility strengthens Inventec’s connections with Asian business networks while bolstering supply chain resilience. The company emphasized that the move supports its strategic objectives to “meet customer shipment requirements, pursue new markets, and mitigate U.S. tariff risks.” Inventec, a leading contract manufacturer specializing in notebooks and AI servers, selected Texas due to its proximity to Mexico and robust power infrastructure. The investment reflects a wider trend of Taiwanese companies accelerating U.S. operations in response to trade policy uncertainties, including potential 32% tariffs on Taiwanese imports. By expanding in Texas, Inventec is strengthening its global footprint while aligning with broader industry efforts to secure resilient supply chains and reduce exposure to trade risks. The Katy facility represents not only a significant U.S. manufacturing investment but also a cornerstone of Inventec’s long-term growth strategy.
